THE CHILDREN OF VAAYLOR by Patricia McLaughlin

The Children of Vaaylor is a story filled with kindness, friendship, responsibility, and love. It begins on an island where three children, Lila, Naunee and Kodi are sitting together enjoying cinnamon tea. The oldest, Lila, decides to reveal to the other two the dream she experienced the night before that sets them all on a quest to find a lost child. From making magical potions, to sailing across the sky, to riding on the top of Manatees, these three children all employ their mystical powers in their journey to find this lost child. After several twists and turns, their quest is finally accomplished, and the children return to their home in the accompaniment of a new friend. This tale teaches children to always believe in oneself, and live life by aiding each other through good as well as bad times.

Pat McLaughlin lives in Massachusetts. She loves to write children stories that remind her of her times spent with grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Early on she spent many hours laughing and realizing life holds a lot of good times when children are around. She is also the author of Two Little Farmers in One Wooden Shoe, Lissi Anne and the Isle of the Gumdrop Trees, Fuzzy Learns a Lesson of Love, and Can an Apple Really Talk? She will continue to write for years to come as her memories can fill a sea.

Jenny Zhu is a sophomore who goes to high school in sunny San Diego. She has been drawing since she was able to hold a pencil, and her love for art inspired her to participate in many art competitions which eventually led to her first job as an illustrator for this book. Jenny hopes to brighten people's days by taking them on a journey inside the whimsical worlds of storybooks through her colorful artworks. She also aspires to kindle the imaginative minds of children and young artists out there to explore the boundless depths of their own creativity. Her dream university is Stanford and her goals in life are to own an art shop and travel across the world to experience international cuisines.
