OBEYING REASON: A BOOK OF POEMS by Alma Bella Solis

Obeying Reason A Book of Poems contains 60 poems written by the author during her creative incubation that spanned nine years. Creative incubation is described by the author as present within the self but absent in the world outside the self. The author wrote these poems from experience, knowledge and, observation of the human spirit; with her strong belief and faith in the Omnipotent Being and, what the Supreme Being created humanity for. The author wrote these poems as her best expression of what existed in the soul of man. Some poems are imploring mankind to think more seriously what is most important in human existence, that the gift of life is valued.

Alma Bella discovered later in life that she was a poet. She was thirty three at the time of her 'creative incubation' when she delved into the abyss of her being that compelled her hand to put into verses what her head was held captive by her own soul. The succeeding nine years she kept on writing poetry whereupon she met Sister Regina Marie, O.P., her fellow Dominican nun who strongly encouraged her to publish her poems. That she did eight years later in 2001.

Prior her Dominican cloistered life in 1993, she was a corporate executive married to her career. In her school days, she received in 1978 a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with three majors in Industrial Psychology, Philosophy and, English that she furthered onto MBA and, was given in 1981 an international academic scholarship by the University of Freiburg in Bresgau, Germany in MDE leading onto PhD. Another academic scholarship was given her by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Canberra, Australia in 1974. Whilst in earlier years in school, she was actively engaged into athletics, choir, dance troupe, dramatics guild, rondalla, school paper, home economics activities, the Brownies and the Girl Scouts and, founded Alpha Phi Omicron in her alma mater.

Whilst she was still in the Monastery in early 2003, a male music composer was looking for her whereabouts from the U.S. ISBN Agency in New Jersey with the purpose of obtaining her permission in turning her poems into music. Said music composer was unsuccessful as the Agency could not re-direct him to which monastery Alma Bella was residing at the time.

Now in her sixth decade of living, she is still teaching art classes to the children and the adults in north of Boston where she has lived in its suburb for over two decades. She had lived in the Philippines, Canada and, in six different states in the USA. She enjoys gardening, sewing and embroidery, cooking and baking, reading and writing, doing art pieces on canvas, playing the piano, watching old classic movies, watching the various birds play and eat in her backyard garden.

Alma Bella has published her novel, Alone and All with Lighthouse Christian Publishing, MN in 2020 and, the three editions of Obeying Reason A book of Poems with three different publishers in 2001, 2018, 2020.
