MARKED FOR LIFE: MY JOURNEY WITH JESUS THROUGH THE MENTAL HEALTH WILDERNESS by Jabez X

"Marked For Life" is an autobiography, written anonymously for personal reasons, by Jabez X. and it concerns the author's walk with Jesus in overcoming his mental health issues. The author shows that knowing Jesus is the key ingredient in overcoming mental health issues, while employing modern psychological techniques also. The author also touches on the stigma attached to having mental health issues in one's life. However, compassion from other people is what the author seeks to promote, keeping in mind that our Lord Jesus can heal any and all illnesses--be they physical or mental. While people may choose to forgive, only God can really choose to forget.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY: Raised in a dysfunctional, atheistic and alcoholic family, the author still managed to earn a B.A. in English from Cornell University in 1977. Around fifteen years later (1992), he gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. The author has written this autobiography to describe his recovery from the wounds and traumas of his life with the help of mental health counselors, as well as the help, love and forgiveness of Jesus--the greatest Counselor there is. The title of the book, "Marked For Life" reflects the author's belief that, though Jesus has forgiven his sins and saved him--as well as healed his broken heart, people still can and do hold his mental health issues against him. While people may, and often do, forgive--only God can truly forgive and forget.
