HORSE IN THE WILDERNESS by Debbie Eckles

To keep up her spirits when her young cousin, Dub, “borrows” her beloved horse and loses it in the national forest, Autumn Parker turns her attention to solving the problems of those around her: Wendell Johnson, a family friend who is the unexplained target of vandalism, and Brent Travis, the melancholy Army veteran who has moved into her family's rent house.

Filled with bitterness and anger after his wife’s infidelity with his best friend, Brent Travis has lost his faith in God, in honor, and loyalty, and vows he will have nothing to do with God and will never trust another woman. A new job as a music teacher has brought him to rural Orchard Springs, Arkansas, where he meets Autumn, makes an impulsive offer to help locate her missing horse, and finds himself fighting his growing feelings for her. When Autumn becomes the vandal’s new target, the vandal’s identity is finally revealed, but it may be too late to matter.

Debbie Eckles is a mother, grandmother, kindergarten teacher, flute player and pet parent to a rescue horse, two German Shepherds and a cat.
