Første gang jeg traff David John Smith var i forbindelse med at jeg skulle møte "Little Steven" for å diskutere et Tv-program som jeg jobbet med. David John var tilrettelegger for møtet, og det ble tidlig klart at det ikke bare var med Little Steven at David John hadde introduksjonskraft. David John er nemlig noe så eksotisk som en amerikaner med sansen for kombinasjonen av nordmenn, norsk natur og superstjerner fra eget hjemland. Nå jobber han med å få superstjerner som Tom Hanks til Norge, og favoritt-fylket Telemark. Jeg tok en prat med den inspirerende amerikaneren om hvordan og hvorfor.

"David John Smith is from the United States, but while being a spy in West Berlin behind the Iron Curtain in the 1980s, he met his Norwegian wife Helle Heyerdahl, the niece of Thor Heyerdahl. Since then, David has lived in Norway, but worked all over the world, including 6 different Olympic organizations.   After meeting ’Little Steven’ Van Zandt (Sopranos, Lilyhammer, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band), his focus has been more on film, music and culture. Currently David is in the process of finishing a documentary film with Steven, and has recently launched the Wild Telemark film location project with Ian Brodie from New Zealand (Lord of the Rings, Narnia)."
