Part two of our Episode with Miyama McQueen-Tokita

Miyama McQueen-Tokita is a classically trained professional Koto and bass koto musician from Melbourne, Australia.

This week she joins us alongside her huband, jazz pianist, hiphop producer, friend of the show and Namboku Records label head, Aaron Choulai.

Last episode we discussed her beginnings, experiences and the koto. Check that out for some really dope insight into the instrument and her approach.

Here we discuss Miyama's new album and play a song ( towards the end of the recording)
We also discuss:

- Souls of Mischief and aging in hiphop
- The real Housewives of Atlanta and hyper-reality
- "Weird" underground hip-hop music like Sage Francis, Buck65 and Busdriver
- the aversion to hip-hop cover songs by hip-hop artists. How it compares to other genres
-Prof Phillip Ewells essay on the "white racial framework" of music theory (Link at the bottom)
- Playing other genres of music using the koto

These two are so amazing and knowledgeable about music!
