Interviewing Steve Stecher of Doc Sweeney Drums - a podcast by Roger @ The Drum Shop
from 2019-09-03T19:11:28
In this episode of Too Stupid to Know I Can’t I interview Steven Stecher of Doc Sweeney Drums. Wow!! So much information an insight, I don’t even know where to begin. We discuss steam bent and stave versus plywood-built shells, how they finish their drums and why they do what they do. We spend a considerable amount of time discussing wood densities, species and how they are used sonically to create a drummer’s sound. We even get to discuss how the various types of hoops affect the sound of a given shell. Steven even provides a glimpse into the future of Doc Sweeney with the implementation of their “Uni-Body” shells that will be milled from a single piece of steam bent wood. Woohooo – Super Cool! On top of all that – we take a little diversion into the world of observation about the industry as a whole and what the future holds for all of us.
