Welcome back, Peeps!

Today, the multi-talented and widely accomplished Emily Boge MPA, RDH, CDA joins us to tell us about her career from the beginning. Emily’s story begins on a hog farm in rural Iowa where she and her 10 siblings grew up. We follow her through her early education, where she played the sousaphone (Katrina psychically intuits this) and invented a motion-activated flycatcher called the “Fly-Vacuum”, which won her a full ride to the University of Iowa.

Today, Emily Boge designs dental instruments, is a Dental Administrative Chair and is an active speaker and writer in the dental community. Her innovative spirit is apparent in her work and her drive to push skills to new limits. It is such a joy to have this lifelong academic on our show to talk about the state of dental hygienist programs and what dental school is really all about.

We cover some of these topics and much more:

  • How hard should dental courses be?

  • What does it take to be a great dental educator?

  • Is it worth going to dental school during the Covid-19 pandemic?

  • How do you find time to write while working overtime?

  • How has the pandemic affected dental programs?
