Manchester City have signed Daniel Arzani from Melbourne City, beating the likes of Juventus to the 19-year-old's signature. Arzani is expected to be sent out on loan, with Celtic.

Brad Smith ends his "Bournemouth nightmare" by heading to a season-long loan to the Seattle Sounders in the MLS. 24-year-old Smith's five games in two seasons with Bournemouth was the reason he was overlooked for the Socceroos World Cup squad.

The Socceroos have been too "reliant" on Tim Cahill to score goals, according to Graham Arnold - and the new coach promises that will change. But Arnold believes players like Jamie Maclaren, Tomi Juric, Mathew Leckie, Robbie Kruse and Daniel Arzani can collectively fill the void.

Attacking midfielder Alexander Baumjohann has signed with Western Sydney Wanderers for the upcoming A-League season, where he will join forces with new coach and fellow German Markus Babbel. Baumjohann, 31, has played most recently in Brazil with Coritiba and Vitoria.
