In Western Australia, Perth Glory have gone down 1-0 to Chelsea in a pre-season exhibition game in front of over 55,000 fans. Pedros 5th minute goal proved the difference although Glory came close to levelling late, with Brendon Santalab heading narrorwly wide. Perth Glory coach Tony Popovic says his side paid Chelsea too much respect early on in the game, but that all round it was a good night for Glory.

In A-League transfer news, Wellington Phoenix have announced the signing of two experienced Hyundai A-League players in Mitch Nichols and David Williams.
Mitch Nichols signs on with 219 Hyundai A-League appearances and 39 goals, with David Williams bringing 148 appearances and 29 goals from his time in the competition.
