When we enter the Advent season, we meditate on various Scriptures during the time leading up to the Nativity and sing hymns also in keeping with the season.  One such hymn is Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus, from the pen of Charles Wesley.  We sing such songs in comfortable homes and churches, not always realizing the hardships that evangelists such as John and Charles Wesley faced as they went about the countryside on horseback preaching the Gospel and bringing new songs to the hearts of Jesus' disciples.  The faith passed down to us we should not take for granted.
