Kids vs. Dogs: Understanding Reason and Correction - a podcast by Ty Brown

In this post, I'd like to tackle a different sort of topic: the difference between the way I raise my kids and the way I train my dogs.

A while ago, I was speaking to a trainer who opposes the use of any kind of correction in dog training. "You wouldn't use an electric collar on your kids, would you?" he asked, thinking he'd caught me out. I told him that I wouldn't. "Well, why not, if you use them on dogs?" For the same reason that I don't take my daughters out into the back yard to use the bathroom, or put them on a leash to take them for a walk, of course!
