In recognition of National Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2020, we've created a two part episode to shed light on not only the physical aspects of elder abuse but also emotional abuse, forms of neglect, and even financial scams. During social distancing reports of elder abuse have gone down, which means that those who would usually be able to intervene due to the challenges Covid-19 has created are unable to. Lara Gurganus, Adult Services Program Coordinator of the NC Department of Health & Human Services, shares her expertise with us on how and why elder abuse may occur and how we can look out for it in our loved ones.
