My guest on this week’s podcast episode is confidence strategist, author and speaker Gita Gave Marotis. Gita grew up in former Soviet Union where girls were raised to look pretty and behave. Sexuality was a taboo, emotions were suppressed, and children were separated early from their parents to go to childcare. On top of that, early in her childhood she was sexually abused. Together with all the other experiences she had made, her mind drew the conclusion that something was wrong with her and that all of this was her fault.

Feeling dirty about herself, she just kept everything to herself. She didn’t want to disappoint her parents, she didn’t want to stand out in a negative way and she was taught that girls don’t behave this way.

She ended up in an abusive relationship, lost herself completely and had lost all respect for herself.

Until one day, one person helped her change her life, start her own business and finally live a life where she doesn’t have to please anyone anymore other than herself!
