This season of the VMP Anthology Podcast--our 16th!--is devoted to telling the story of the eight album box set devoted to Cadet Records, a short-lived jazz, blues, and soul music imprint underneath the Chess banner that launched artists like Minnie Riperton and Charles Stepney. 

In this introductory episode, we talk to Marshall Chess, son of the Chess family, who ran the label as a response to the explosion of psych rock and soul music.
