This week, Karrie talks about resistance, desperation, and the freedom God offers when we finally surrender by asking us to ask ourselves two questions: What is God asking me to do? What am I holding onto? She studies the responses of three Biblical characters who responded to God’s invitation in different ways: Pharaoh, the rich young ruler, and the paralyzed man whose friends ripped through a roof so he could meet Jesus. When each man was invited to step into something more—to partner with God to free the Israelites, abandon everything to follow Jesus, and be in Jesus’s presence—only one was desperate enough to accept. Only the paralyzed man was freed and walked out a changed man.

God invites us to be part of the kingdom every day, and yet many of us don’t accept because of the risk or the cost or the things we hold onto—our personal kingdoms. We put off surrendering to what God is asking of us till tomorrow because we can. We aren’t desperate enough yet. Karrie reminds us that God offers us freedom every day and urges us not to miss the invitation because we’re focused on the kingdoms we’ve created.
