The Problem With Evil - Dec. 10 2017 - a podcast by VOX Community Podcast

In light of all the pain and suffering in the world, it’s easy to wonder why God doesn’t stop it or intervene. What’s the point? Why is it happening? Does He know, and—if so—does He care? Tim responds to these questions by exploring the problem of evil, God’s attitude toward it, why He doesn’t “fix” it, and how we should respond in the midst of it.

He starts by answering this question: Why did God create human beings (and not robots)? He wanted us to choose: to love Him, to have a relationship, to do good over evil. This choice is what makes us fully human. He could eradicate evil, but to do this, He’d have to revoke our free will. Without free will, we couldn’t love Him. (We could obey and comply, but we couldn’t love.) Having free will means there will always be the potential for evil in this world. As Christians, we should cling to hope—God promises to rectify the world—and take comfort knowing God weeps with us as He waits.
