Insider secrets to exercising your dog and truly getting a calm pup.

What do you mean by exercising smarter? One thing that we all know or for the most part we've all heard is that a tired dog is a good dog, right? Exercising is a crucial element to creating a well rounded, calm and collected adult dog or puppy. However, unfortunately, I think people take that too much to heart. This is especially true when you have a hyperactive dog or a very excitable dog or you have behavior problems such as mouthing, jumping, leash pulling or nipping.

Brie Blakeman, CPDT-KA, is a certified professional dog trainer in Portland Oregon and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Alongside running her own business Noble Woof Dog Training, Brie teaches at The Oregon Humane Society, helping clients understand and address behaviors like separation anxiety, hyperactivity and reactivity. When she’s not teaching, Brie and her Siberian Husky Yuka enjoy the sport of bike-joring, and trick training as well as performing behavior chains for the occasional TV commercial.
