By 1774 the political chasm between the American Colonies
and the Empire of Great Britain was at an all time high. In response to the
British occupation of Boston and the Coercive Acts, delegates from the American
Colonies met in Philadelphia in what would become known as the First
Continental Congress. Although they represented a group of politically active
minds, their interpretations of the events of the previous year led them to
very different conclusions, and most were far from revolution. On this episode
we discuss the occupation of Boston, the establishment of a rebel
Massachusetts, and the complicated politics of the First Continental Congress.
