Captain Edward J. Smith lived a sailor’s life and commanded
some of the largest vessels in world history, but his reputation would be
forever remembered as the man that piloted Titanic. Although many believe that
his actions lead to the massive ship’s 1912 sinking and the deaths of over 1500
souls, many speculate as to his condition to even pilot the vessel. Just one
year before Titanic made history, Smith faltered as Captain of its sister ship
Olympic, and swore that after Titanic’s first voyages he would retire for good.
On this episode we discuss Captain Edward J. Smith, RMS Titanic.
