David’s song, Psalm 23, has inspired innumerable Christian songs, sermons, and prayers for centuries. However, since David wrote this Psalm for his Jewish audience in a pre-Christian era, Christians can appreciate its full import when they first explore its socio-cultural context before connecting it to their faith practices. In this five-part series, Ebenezer examines this Psalm with the view of facilitating this interpretive task. In this first part, he draws from the Jewish faith and David’s vocation as a shepherd to expound the words “the LORD is my Shepherd.” We hope that this message will encourage you to follow the Good Shepherd.
