With it being the Mental Wellbeing Round in the Mitre10 cup this weekend, I had to get on Billy Guyton a man who has an incredible mental health story, that just blew me away the first time I heard it. Billy has had a very successful rugby career playing for North Otago, Tasman Mako, the Hurricanes, Crusaders and Blues as well as representing NZ with the Heartland XV and NZ Maori. However, throughout his career he has suffered with his mental health and in this episode he opens up about some of the struggles he had. He talks about the moment where he lost control and at one point he was up a tree with a rope ready to go. Hearing that story was pretty tough, as he is someone I've played with and against throughout my career and I just had no idea that he was ever struggling. It certainly made me realise I have actually never been very good at checking in on people so thats something I feel got from this episode. Billy shares some really good insights into what helped him get through his struggles and what helped him turn his life around, which now has him in a good head space successfully coaching Club Rugby and the Tasman Women's team.

Unfortunately the audio on this episode didn't come through the mic's so it's not the best quality so I apologise for that but it's far too good of a story not to share.

If you know anyone out there who is struggling or might get something out of this episode please share it with them or at least check in with them and make sure they are ok.

I appreciate all the support so far, thanks for listening.
