It was an honour for Bryan and Stephanie to speak with Elder Donna Augustine from Elsipogtog and ASD-E's First Nation Education Coordinator, Tracy Landry.  September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and we encourage students and staff to wear an orange shirt to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Donna and Tracy speak about Phyillis Webstad, who had her orange shirt taken from her on her first day at the Mission, a residential school when she was six years old. We also spoke about the history of the Wabanaki people: the first people on this land, the resources available to schools for Orange Shirt Day and throughout the year and much more.
