Let's face it. 2020 isn't going the way most of us thought it would. With that said, though times may be tough, these are the times that mold our character and ultimately define us as leaders.

Today, we invited Mike Patz and Joel Romelus, pastors at Greenhouse Church to not only share their stories with us but to discuss the many topics surrounding our community, nation, and the world today.  In this episode, we discuss the Coronavirus impact on the church, hear Joel's personal experience with racism, discuss the important foundations and roles of parenthood and mentorship, the role and impact of technology and social media, the nationwide rioting, and so much more.

The most difficult conversations are the most important ones to have.

4:39 - Joel's story.

9:20 - Mike's story.

11:30 - As the leader of the church, when a team member isn't really doing a great job, how many times do you forgive them before you fire them

19:40 - Do you ever reach a line where there's not enough time to help a team member reach their potential before it's time to make a change?

21:58 - (Asking Joel...) Is Pastor Mike great at motivating the team? [We further discuss 5 roles withing the Bible - APEST: Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher.]

28:54 - The coronavirus... the thought of not going to church was super strange to a lot of us. What were the discussions like when it came down to making these decisions?

32:20 - "Hey... I saw you walking at the Black Lives Matter March... does this mean we can go back to church?"

35:06 - Do you ever feel like there is going to be pushback from the congregation or do you feel like they are on the same page when it comes to getting activism into the church?

40:33 - Joel's personal experiences with racism.

44:39 - How much of it has to do with home life? The absence of a father seems to come up a lot... A big part of the foundation is the family life, so what can be done about that?

47:34 - What's your opinion on the role of technology in all this?

57:00 - How do you handle when people say they are leaving the church and taking their checkbook with them because of your stance on an issue? 59:38 - There's so much confusion (for me personally)... I would not be happy if my business got burned down to the ground, and I feel like people are justifying that, what are your thoughts on that? And why does it become a political issue?

1:04:30 - Doesn't it create more division than unity?

1:07:20 - We have a friend in Minneapolis, Vespa Dealer, that had their windows broken and business was broken into... What should these individual business owners be saying or doing?

1:14:00 A cynic person may look at 2020 and say this is proof that there is no God or if there is a God, this is a merciless God. And a person of faith would say this is exactly why we need God... so how do you make sense of all this to a believer or non-believer?
