Calcio is Italian for football or soccer, and to be honest there are a lot of different names for the beautiful game around the world. On today’s episode, I catch up with Mark Anthony De Francesco and we chat about how blockchain, crypto, NFTs and tokenization will likely change the world of sports for fans, players, owners and anyone tied into the ecosystem of entertainment that is professional sports in the year 2022. Instead of talking about sports in general, we explore these topics through Mark’s love for Roma, one of Italy’s and Europe’s most beloved soccer clubs. And, I must say, as a huge fan of soccer and European club football or calcio, it was great to connect with Mark and hear his thoughts on how fan tokens and crypto will enhance every súper-fan’s relationship with their club.

I also want to say that we had some technical difficulties during the recording and so half way through the episode Mark’s microphone changes from his AirPods to that of his phone.

Calcio or soccer is the world’s sport and so it makes sense that web3 and crypto, like all new tech before it, play a role in the continuous and iterative evolution that is the beautiful game.
