Many threads bind the Bruins baseball program to the Pack baseball program: Reno High School's John Savage began his illustrious coaching career as a Pack assistant to Gary Powers in the early 90s. Current Nevada head coach TJ Bruce was an assistant for a national championship UCLA team led by John Savage in 2013 as part of an unparalleled run of success for Savage and the Bruins while Bruce was an assistant at UCLA. John Savage's son Ryan is the current Director of Player Development for Wolf Pack baseball.
