Lauren Arnke was born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco. After moving to the Denver area in 2000, she began working in restaurants in her teens and twenties. Years into her 20s and still with no direction she decided to get a degree in Cosmetology. She started with the intention of makeup and skin being her canvas, she found hair challenging and satisfying, and thus her journey began! Shortly after her apprenticeship, she got pregnant with her son and added the complexity of motherhood to her new career. After 6 years of working at the same education-focused salon, she realized her values no longer aligned with her personal nor professional relationships. The following 4 years involved becoming a business owner, splitting with the father of her children, and the tough legal and emotional transitions that resulted from a full life transformation. Now she is working to rebuild her hair business, invest in her family, participate in racial and social justice, educate new and future beauty professionals, and coach anyone struggling with transition.
