Switzerland is hoping to be home for another sort of bank – one that could potentially save our lives.

The Seerave Foundation is looking to set up the Microbiota Vault – it would collect and keep beneficial germs, because not all of them are bad – and many of them are endangered.

Studies are suggesting a balance of these good germs are vital for our wellbeing – but some are dying out due to our urban western lifestyles. But Dr Manuel Fankhauser, who’s the chief scientific officer for the Seerave Foundation, says we need to rethink our attitude to germs.
