“Why does Adam get all the praise from the boss when we all did the same amount of work!? It’s so obvious he’s the favourite.”

I believe you have heard this type of statement at the office. It happens at all companies whether we like to admit it or not. Some staff are preferred by the boss, gaining additional perks, bonuses and incentives or preferential treatment. When favouritism occurs, it is important for you to validate if it is due to recognition of one’s performance standards or personal attachment.

Favouritism on the basis of personal attachment can be very damaging whether you are on the receiving or giving end. In this episode, we explore some of the causes as to why favouritism exists at the workplace and its impact in the company. Additionally, this episode explores how we can take a proactive approach to ensure this negative norm is minimised.
