Why do people keep telling me how to do my job? I have done it long enough to know what I am doing!

How often have you provided feedback sincerely to someone with the intention to bring about improvement in a workflow? How many times have you been faced with strong defensiveness rejecting your given feedback completely? How did that make you feel?

Have you ever been given feedback and gone on the defensive? Either defending yourself aggressively, with humour or non-verbally?

When you get into the habit of furiously defending yourself, you limit your potential to engage in a conversation to explore areas you can improve and develop yourself in.

This episode highlights the long-term damage defensiveness could bring towards our continuous learning and how we can reassess our perspective towards appreciating feedback and strengthening our relationship with others based on mutual trust and respect.

If you like this episode, tune in weekly for more real-life challenges that you may be facing and how we can hack our behaviour and change our perspective to bring positive change into our daily lives.
