After moving from Melbourne to Queensland, Jake Edwards co-founded Edwards&Mills in 2021. There was a lot of interest in Jake from social media because of his participation in the TV show Married at First Sight. He managed to capitalise on that interest and convert his followers into clients.

Jake has been buying and selling properties for about 13 years. He tells Buyer’s Agent Institute founder Ben Handler that he bought his first property when he was 18.He became a buyer’s agent after meeting Kiani Mills, who then ran her own conveyancing company and is now his business partner. Her property experience has been invaluable. But he still asks his mentor, Gary McPherson, for advice.

Jake played professional football when he was younger, which has given him an expansive network of contacts and has resulted in several AFL players becoming his clients. Thanks to a referral, Jake also scored several prominent artists as clients. That’s allowed him to establish a niche market as the buyer’s agent to use when you’re a high-profile person who wants to remain anonymous when buying property.

Jake concentrates on building good relationships with a few mortgage brokers because that helps him gain leads. And he claims to have the most fun when he’s negotiating.

Buyer’s Agent Institute can give you the advice you need to become your own boss and build a successful buyer’s agency business. Go to www.buyersagentinstitute.com.au/enquire to start the journey.
