The US Shutdown opened the doors of many museums and symphonies for US Public Servants who haven't been paid for weeks. Among the institutions offering free tickets are the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Seattle Symphony.

The Ernst von Siemens Prize goes to British composer Rebecca Saunders, only the second woman since 1974 receiving it.
