I have to admit that I get SO frustrated with diet and nutrition books that are telling me to just do it—to use willpower to stop eating the junk foods that I love.  It has never worked for me beyond 4 days of teeth-gritting pain.  At the end of which I finally gave into the urges and ate all of my favorite foods.  I felt like a failure—like a worthless nobody who wasn’t strong enough and would never be strong enough to make it work.


But then I learned the truth!  That it doesn’t take willpower to give up sugar and other junk foods, to go to the gym or to stop overeating…and in fact your use of willpower is a sign that you’re headed in the wrong direction.
