Have you ever felt frightened or intimidated when out walking alone? Have you ever wondered what you should do if approached by an attacker? Sadly, this is the society that we face where everyone, but mostly women, have to fear when going outside because of the horrible things that humans do to one another. Hosts Diya Hituvalli and Nihal Gill offer tips to keep you safe.
Diya has created a FREE app called KeepMeSafe. It is a voice recognition technology to help the user in times of need. The user can simply press “Activate KeepMeSafe” when they feel unsafe. The voice recognition software will listen to the user, and if the user says “Help”, it will play a loud alarm sound to scare away the attacker Also, when “KeepMeSafe” is activated, the app will start tracking the user’s location, and if the user says “Help”, it will send a readymade text message to 911 with the user’s location. In addition, as an official NGO, KeepMeSafe is a coalition of youth and women fighting to empower women everywhere by providing them with tools and technologies which can be used to protect themselves in dangerous situations.
Nihal continues the conversation with tips that women can use when they feel threatened. A few tips include practicing awareness, using your sixth sense, taking self-defense training, and always alerting a trusted friend or family member of your location.

Make sure to download KeepMeSafe for FREE on the iOS App Store, it is the one with the pink logo. Also follow KeepMeSafe on Instagram @keepmesafecorp ! If you are interested in becoming a KeepMeSafe volunteer, email diya.hituvalli@keepmesafecorp.org.
