Have you ever considered that the synthetic scents you love could be contributing to your mental health challenges?⁠⁠ Research shows that some of the chemicals used in synthetic fragrance can negatively impact your nervous system, hormones and cortisol, leading to (or exacerbating) feelings of anxiety and/or depression. 


 


As a practitioner with a strong interest in mental health, and seventeen books on the subject on my bookshelf,  I have been researching topics around environmental contributors to anxiety and depression for several years. And I'm convinced that the synthetic chemicals we are exposed to in our every day lives are having a marked impact on our mental health, as well as out overall health. If course, this is only one piece of the mental health puzzle, so don’t stop here.
