In this episode I sit down with Kathryn Shah, founder of Spring & Mulberry. At the age of 32, after picking up a virus that turned into pneumonia, Kathryn faced death and a few years later was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at just 35. Through her health journey she learned that food is medicine and took her health into her own hands through research, pairing traditional Western treatments with holistic medicine. She shares her diagnosis, foods that improve the medical outcome of chemotherapy, as well as specific foods for her type of breast cancer. We get into why it is important to reduce refined sugar in your diet for disease prevention and cancers and how her research led her to creating a product free of refined sugar - Spring & Mulberry. Kathryn shares the health benefits of dates, what is misunderstood about whole fruit vs. refined sugars, the biggest business lessons she learned along the way and a day in her life of healthy habits she implements today while in remission. We also chat on listening to your intuition, the importance of doing research and making the best decision for you, finding the doctor that works for you.
