To steal a phrase from the movie Vanilla Sky, when actor Jason Lee says, 'The sweet is never as sweet, without the sour' he could also be referring to the ups and downs of being a coach. We love it when we're hitting the ball out of the park on those sweet working days when you and your client make incredible breakthroughs. But then there is the sour. The days when we're just not feeling it. Or worse, we think maybe we shouldn't be coaches at all, the self-doubt has crept in, and it just won't go away. On the sour days, maybe we say ‘screw it.’

Well, not today Satan. It's time for a little Pep Talk.

Today I discuss those horrible bad days in running your coaching business and what you can do to address the dip in your mood or client results. I look at our enemy Mr. Imposter Syndrome and advise you on how to silence his noise with a little revision into your previous client successes. I remind you to take out your licensed tools, whether they be those of Profit First, Book Yourself Solid, or Robbins-Madanes, and ask you to refresh your mind with why these methods work for you. I also ask you to check yourself and examine if this lousy day – or days- is with one client or several clients and what I think it means regarding your velvet rope policy or coaching mindset in general.

"If you don't believe that you can get it, why is that? Is it because you're listening to the Imposter Syndrome speaking in your brain?" – Jos Willard

"Sometimes it's that you misread the client. When you brought them in, you don't have a red velvet rope policy in place, and you're taking money from people that you shouldn't be taking money from because they're not the kind of person that you do your best work with" – Jos Willard

"What are sessions that you have gone through that have been effective? When have you been at your best? Think back to that and describe for yourself everything around that." – Jos Willard

"Sometimes you have those days, but you want to minimize those days. And what I have managed to do for myself in order to help me minimize those days is exactly what I've laid out here." – Jos Willard
