Holiday Survival Tips:
- Prioritize protein and veggies with some fat at breakfast.
- When baking cut the amount of sugar in half and add some cinnamon. It enhances the sweet flavor and it improves sugar metabolism.
- Alternate alcoholic drinks with water and lime. The vitamin A in the lime will help your liver process the alcohol more efficiently.
- Take 4 activated charcoal pills before bed after a night of drinking
- Don’t drink and drive or let others drink and drive. Get an UBER
- Choose a dessert that has both fat and sugar rather than just sugar. The fat actually slows the rate of delivery of sugar into the bloodstream.
- Detox the day after a big holiday meal or night drinking by sipping on bone broth.
- Don’t skip meals. It seems logical but arriving starved may result in overeating, and drinking on an empty stomach will give you a quicker buzz, which is more likely to lead to mindless munching. Splurge on something special, then stop.
- Schedule your exercise. Make it an appointment that you won't miss.
- Don’t try to lose weight. You will just stress yourself out.
- Get 6-8 hours of sleep. A lack of sleep can weaken your immunity and increase your chronic disease risk. Set a bedtime, and stick to it.
