Many of us believe that the more we run, the better we will be at running, and this is true to a certain extent. There is, however, a tipping point at which we can become in addicted to exercise, and sacrifice our relationships, jobs. and sleep as a result. We are excited to welcome the expert on the topic of exercise addiction, Dr. Heather Hausenblas, to the podcast this week. Heather Hausenblas, PhD, is an author, a researcher, and a leading health-wellness expert. Dr. Hausenblas is the co-author of six books, and she has published over 100 scientific journal articles related to health, sport, and wellness. She has been recognized for her research, and she has been the recipient of several awards including the Sport Science Award of the International Olympic Committee for her research on social determinants on physical activity. Dr. Hausenblas is an advocate for improving people’s health and she currently serves as the Vice-Chair for the Mayor’s Council on Fitness and Well-being for the City of Jacksonville and is a member of the Humana Bold Goal initiative, Movement for Change. She is a mom to three boys, and she enjoys exercising outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, and coaching and watching her sons play sports. Her goal is to hike in every National Park in North America. She resides in Jacksonville, FL with her husband and boys.
