Today I am teaching the importance of the proper meditative posture. It’s simple, yet profound. Firstly, we sit away from any back support. Secondly, we set up on cushions that elevate our hips above our knees. Or knees are crossed and in a full Lotus or half Lotus. When you have successfully found the position where the hip is higher than the knee the hip will be slightly tilted forward and all the vertebrae will align. Or another way to say it is your energy centers up and down your spine will all be open and free. The spine is the Hwy of nerve energy and along with it our energy meridians and as easterners teach the energy chakras run along the spine too. Now you will feel effortlessly holding this position. There will be no tension and you will not be exerting effort to hold this position. Your mind will receive full energy for oxygen and your concentration and focus will be sharper. You may use one word or one short phrase with which to intentionally place your attention. This is as others call it, a mantra or an affirmation. Stay in this posture of meditation with this affirmation for 10 to 15 minutes breathing easily with attention to the breath coming in filling your lungs and the exhale, keeping the body in it’s quiet restful state. This is your Sacred Silence.
