Are you a health optimizer?

Are you fit athlete but still feeling fat?

Are you fit on the outside but not so healthy on the inside "under the hood"?

Many athletes are fit but not healthy as chronic stress, over training, poor nutrition, oxidative stress and dysbiosis can all lead to being unhealthy "under the hood".

How do you know if you are healthy?  How do you be a "health optimizer"?

Do you want to improve your immune system?  Dr. Steve talks about ways to improve your health and to build resiliency.

Portage native Dr. Steven Osterhout attended Western Michigan University where he attained his Pre-Med degree in Biological Medicine. Dr. Osterhout is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. He also pursued post-doctoral studies in Clinical Nutrition and is a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist.

At the age of 12 Dr. Osterhout was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and at 20 he underwent open heart surgery; Experiencing these two profound health challenges so early in life created an overwhelming need to find answers as to why we become—and remain—sick. This fueled a passion for identifying how poor health develops and what can be done to overcome health issues using a functional medicine approach.

Dr. Osterhout's personal experience created a respect for what traditional medicine can do, and he obtained an understanding of what traditional medicine fails to do. His concerns with the conventional approach of identifying symptoms and then medicating them led to over twenty-five years of research, science and participation in natural healing strategies from around the world. He learned first-hand that identifying, detoxifying, and eliminating the underlying causes of illness creates an authentic opportunity for good health.

Every person has his or her own unique factors, environmental triggers, and predispositions; Addressing these issues, and many more, creates an opportunity for the body to restore and heal.
