Narcissistic mothers are varied in their personas. Some are grandiose, highly extroverted and brash; other are humble and self-effacing. These are their personas, false selves that they present to the world.
Narcissistic mothers fools most people: their friends, social circles, work associates, family members.
Behind closed doors the narcissistic mother is an unrelenting nightmare. She is cold, calculating, cruel, manipulative, cunning.
With an unfavored child the narcissistic mothers is constantly projecting her vile rage, finding reasons to criticize and humiliate.
Psychologically the child is always in a state of fight or flight, waiting for the next time of terror, never knowing when and how it will happen. There are: mother's ugly accusations, draconian rules, impossible expectations, low frustration tolerance.
