Instagram hits 1 billion monthly users, up from 800M in September
Instagram’s meteoric rise continues, dwarfing the stagnant growth rates of Snapchat and Facebook. Today Instagram announced that it has reached 1 billion monthly active users, after passing 800 million in September 2017 with 500 million daily users.

- IGTV, the longer-form video hub it’s launching for creators.

Facebook is Putting Autoplay Video Ads Inside Messenger
Facebook found a new place to sell video ads: Inside Messenger, where some users will start to see autoplay video ads appear in their inbox right next to messages from friends and family.

Facebook Groups may soon charge monthly subscription fees for access
Facebook will now let group administrators start charging $4.99 to $29.99 a month for exclusive membership in certain groups, the company announced today in a blog post. Parenting, cooking, and home cleaning groups will be the first ones to get the new feature as part of an early test.
“While in the past, Facebook groups have always been free, charging for a membership might heighten the sense of exclusivity and make a group feel more special to be in. A paywall may also just drive more people away.”
