The 2019 IAAF WORLD TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS in DOHA, QATAR Oct 5, 2019 was the setting of the greatest SHOT PUT COMPETITION in WORLD HISTORY. 7 of the 12 men entered the finals having lifetime bests of 22m or better and everone who had ever thrown over 22m in a World Championship meet had medaled. Werner Gunthor's MEET RECORD stood at 22.23 since 1987, it would be smashed on the first throw and battered for the rest of the meet. Joe Kovacs (USA) wins gold 22.91, Ryan Crouser (USA) Silver 22.90, and Tom Walsh (New Zealand) Bronze 22.90 as well. Darlan Romani (Brazil) goes 22.53 and places 4th off the medal stand. It was an incredible competition and sets the stage for another epic battle at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
