TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this TrendingThursday, April 6, 2023, Dr. Leslie Golden. Dr. Golden is an Obesity Medicine Specialist and Founder at Weight In Gold Wellness. She is an expert in behavior change, finding weight health, recovering from emotional eating, and personally living with obesity.
Dr. Golden approaches weight loss from a very different perspective. Having gone through her own personal journey, her patients learn to find their self-worth through the weight health journey, the importance of mindset, the complexity of treating obesity, obesity medications, emotional eating, understanding our relationship with food, disordered eating, food addiction, and diseases that can be impacted by treating obesity, and advocacy.
Most people who have been on a weight-loss journey have suffered from “diet” trauma but the work begins when we are able to have a heartfelt conversation with a physician who can not just hear us, but listen.
Many people who go to their physicians for their annual wellness checkups may not know how to ask the important questions to their doctor or may feel afraid that their doctor won’t listen to them. (The medical industry has to do a better job!) Dr. Golden taps into the “heart” of the matter; in other words, she taps into a co-adhesive relationship with her patient.
From her own personal journey to being a Medicine Obesity Specialist, Dr. Golden brings a sense of a different type of communication style with her patients. One of the things that Dr. Golden stressed it’s all about sharing the decision and options with her patients is why they are successful!
