As a licensed psychologist and founder of The Black Girl Doctor, Taisha Caldwell-Harvey, Ph.D. (Dr. Tai) is dedicated to changing the way we look at mental health and supports the mental health of professional Black women and workplace wellness programs. Through her work, she believes her purpose in life is to inspire people to dream bigger and is a fierce advocate for Black Joy as a social justice issue.
In this episode, Dr. Tai discusses how doing the most is unrealistic in today’s climate, and ultimately, how that impacts our ability to be well. Let’s be real, we’ve all had an experience or two that’s forced us to take a look at our relationship with “grind culture” but it’s imperative for us to implement tools and practices that allow us to take charge of our mental well being.
We also talk about:
Her relationship with doing the most
Reflecting on how we learn our behaviors and who models them for us
Bypassing the signals our body gives us
Asking ourselves to identify how we’re feeling throughout the day
How to feel your feelings, but not let them take over
The importance of protecting your livelihood
The definition of true rest
Identifying what we like to do to restore ourselves
