As Kayla starts her 2nd book (squeals in excitement), she’s been taking a more critical look at gender and the gender norms we’ve been socialized to believe in. If you think about it, gender itself touches every aspect of our lives as we work to reprogram our own subconscious to how we want to show up in this world.
In this episode, Kayla brings you along her journey of discovering what gender means to her, how we can release those stereotypes that don’t feel good to us, and living in our own truth. This episode is an invitation to define gender for yourself, not for the perception of other people as we keep in mind that gender is a social construct.
We also talk about:
Gender roles as it relates to our expressed emotions
The socialization of how we’re expected to present ourselves as women
Redefining being a woman
What makes a good woman, man, or person?
Looking at gender roles at the intersection of race
