Woosah. On this week's episode of the pod, Kayla chops it up with 2 of her best friends to address the state of the culture from their perspectives.

Because we're in an incredibly tumultuous time, Kayla wanted to check in with Thara and Mariama with a real, raw, and vulnerable conversation about how we're all feeling right now. The three of them took some time to reflect on the impact this time will have on the way we move forward with racial injustice and how we can take care of ourselves during this time. While there's a heavy energy right now, we're hopeful that this will leave sustainable and impactful change.

We also talk about:

  • What it truly means to be an ally
  • The difference between 'trying' and 'doing'
  • The struggle with being seen as a model minority and how that impacts how others view other minority groups
  • The impact of social media at this time
  • Setting up boundaries
  • The importance of nonblack people being held accountable
  • Where do we go from here
