Wellness and Wahala Warriors I have special VIP guest and Governance Gist today with Legendary-Lanre Dabiri (eLDee)!

eLDee is credited as one of the pioneers of the afrobeats music genre. In 1998, he started a band called Trybesmen which went on to be one of the music groups that popularized the fusion of Hip-hop, highlife, pop, and contemporary afrobeat music. Trybesmen were a continental hit by the year 2000 and played a pivotal role in the shaping of the new music genre that became known to the rest of the world as “Afrobeats”.

eLDee signed a total of 16 artists to his Trybe Records label. Alongside his music group Trybesmen and other Trybe Records artists, and despite a lack of infrastructure, they produced the massive hit singles “Shake Bodi”, “Plenty nonsense”, "Work it" and "Oya" between 1999 and 2002. eLDee is also credited for jump-starting what became the largest physical distribution network for music and movies (Nollywood) across the African continent in 2001, which enabled the initial reach and influence of Nigerian entertainment across the continent and internationally.

After moving to the United States in 2002, eLDee recorded 4 solo albums. He won "Best International Album" at the 2007 Nigeria Entertainment Awards in New York City and was nominated in the category of “Best African artist” at the internationally acclaimed and UK-hosted MOBO (Music of black origin) awards in 2009. He was one of the first Nigerian artists to secure international music collaborations with US artists and was featured on CNN for his hit single “One day” in 2011.

eLDee has worked as an artist, songwriter, producer, director, and interactive media consultant.
