I’m a Southern California native of South-Asian/Indian heritage. My Alma Mater is the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where I met my future husband. We have 5-year-old boy/girl twins and live outside of Los Angeles where I practice Cardiology.
I went to medical school at New York Medical College and after 4-bone chilling winters was happy to move back to Southern California where I did my Internal Medicine training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and Cardiology Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. I spent additional time training in Women’s heart health at the Barbara Streisand Women’s Heart Center at Cedars Sinai and in Cardio-oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.
I became a cardiologist because there are many ways to make an impact in patients’ life: from prevention to early disease treatment with medications, to advanced surgical and non-invasive procedures and even transplant. With the constraints on time as a practicing physician and my own personal health journey, I realized there isn’t enough time for physicians to meaningfully educate patients on preventive strategies for heart disease. This realization gave inspiration to develop Healthwyse: a science-based resource center and accountability program that empowers individuals to develop a healthy and sustainable relationship with food.
